The City of Fishers has embarked on a 25-year comprehensive plan to ensure future financial sustainability, while creating an environment that supports quality of life that meets the vision for a smart, vibrant, entrepreneurial city.
While our community has adopted five-year plans for transportation and parks in the past, Fishers 2040 is the first that has integrated a long-term plan for future land use, residential standards, transportation and parks into one vision.
A steering committee guided the planning process from stakeholder engagement to defining scope of work for the plan. To help inform the development of Fishers 2040 and to provide key stakeholder input, the Steering Committee formed four committees comprised of City Council members and community leaders. They include:
Land Use Task Force
Residential Standards Task Force
Transportation Task Force
Parks & Open Space Task Force
Each task force met multiple times last fall to answer critical questions for our community. The draft plan was presented to the City Council for first reading on March 21st. The public was able to learn more about the plan and provide input at the following meetings:
Plan Commission April 12 at 7 p.m. in the City Hall Auditorium,
Community Open House April 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Conner Prairie,
Community Open House May 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Brooks School Elementary, and
Plan Commission May 10 at 7 p.m. in the City Hall Auditorium.
